The tech firm Palantir Technologies has launched a four-month “Meritocracy Fellowship” aimed at high‐school graduates as an alternative to college, while at the same time many mid-career Americans find themselves “too experienced” for entry roles yet not senior enough for higher positions — illustrating how the U.S. labour market is shifting and offering new pathways while leaving others in career limbo.
